Due to recent changes to US import tariffs and duties, shipping to the USA has become unreliable and often results in unexpected fees for customers on delivery. To avoid this and ensure a smooth experience, we’ve made the decision to pause US shipping for now.

Orders containing a pre-ordered item will be dispatched together once all items are available. If your order includes both in-stock and pre-ordered items, it will be held until the pre-ordered item arrives, and everything will ship at the same time. If you’d like in-stock items sooner, please consider placing a separate order.

We’ve always met our pre-order dates, building in extra time to account for any possible delays. While delays are possible, we've consistently shipped on or ahead of schedule up to this point. Keeping customers happy is a priority, so we set a conservative timeline to avoid disappointment. Many of our products are made from recycled plastic bottles, repurposed into durable fibres for towels, bags, and coolers — helping reduce waste ending up in landfill and oceans.

We also use sustainably sourced cotton, organic cotton where possible, and waxed cotton canvas for select products, prioritising natural and lower-impact materials without compromising function.

Our products are designed to be used often and kept for years, not replaced season after season. We also ship orders in biodegradable or recycled packaging to minimise waste.

We’re always working to improve our materials and processes as better options become available.

It's a big process that's for sure. In short, the plastic bottles are collected, washed, crushed into pellets, melted down and extruded into fibre to be made into the polyester used in our towels. If you'd like a more detailed look, you can view here. By using recycled materials, we prevent 7-30 recycled plastic bottles from ending up in landfill and oceans with each purchase.

Our goal is to ultimately produce an 100% eco towel whether that is from recycled plastic or a blend of natural materials. We found that the composition of 100% recycled plastic meant poorer texture, not much absorbency, and overall unable to be as functional as the current SomerSide towel. Innovation is key in this space so if you've got some ideas please do get it touch, we'd love to chat.

Microplastics are essentially very small pieces of plastic that result from the breakdown of larger plastic debris. They can be so small that you may not even see them. Microplastics come from all types of man made materials that make up products such as swimwear, t-shirts, make-up, and various others. As our towels are made from recycled plastic, there are measures you can take to minimise the Microplastic waste from entering our environment when you wash your SomerSide towel. This can be as simple as hand washing, or using washing bags that prevent Microplastics from entering our waterways. We recommend buying a Guppy washing bag to protect our waterways and marine friends. 

Cotton is a natural, biodegradable fibre, making it a lower-impact option compared to synthetic materials when sourced responsibly.

We use sustainably sourced and organic cotton, which is grown using fewer chemicals and with more mindful farming practices. Cotton is also durable, breathable, and designed to be used and washed repeatedly, supporting longevity and reducing the need for frequent replacement.

Choosing long-lasting cotton products made with care is an important part of reducing overall environmental impact.

Our towels are designed to last, however, if you want to grab yourself a new one there are ways to utilise the old one. A great way to reuse your old SomerSide towel is to cut it up and use it as cleaning cloths, give it to your dog or cat as a new blanket, or even as a funky bath mat.

Yes! We are strongly committed to making every aspect of our product as sustainable as possible. We use either biodegradable or recycled ocean plastic mailing bags for all orders.

Our towels are made from 85% recycled polyester and 15% polyamide also known as Nylon is some countries.

Sand-free towels are made from recycled fibres and designed to repel sand, dry quickly, and pack down compact. They’re lightweight, shake off sand easily, and are ideal for travel, beach days, camping, and adventures where quick drying and low bulk matter.

Cotton towels are thicker, heavier, and feel more like a traditional towel. They’re super soft and absorbent, making them great for lounging, beach days where comfort is key, or use at home.

Our Long Sleeve Ponchos are made from 100% organic cotton at 380gsm, giving them a warm, cosy, premium feel—perfect for staying snug after a cold dip, camping, or cooler weather.

Our Short Sleeve Ponchos are made from our sand-resistant recycled polyester blend (the same fabric as our signature towels). They’re lightweight, quick-drying, compact, and ideal for travel, beach days, and adventures where you want something easy and fast to dry.

At this stage, we do not offer children’s ponchos. Our current poncho range is designed for adults only.

Our ponchos are unisex and designed with an oversized fit. Available in two sizes: S/M and L/XL. The S/M measures 70cm x 112cm from shoulder to hem, while the L/XL measures 95cm x 115cm. Please check out our size guide for more information. 

Quick Dry towels: Wash your SomerSide towel before use to give it that softness, our quick dry towels will continue to get softer over time and with every wash. Machine wash at 30 degrees and we recommend washing separately.

Premium Waffle towels: Machine wash your premium towel on cold cycle and we recommend washing separately.

Beach Ponchos: Wash your poncho before use to give it that softness, it will continue to get softer over time and with every wash. Machine wash at 30 degrees and we recommend washing separately.

Our towels & ponchos dry 2-4 faster than a regular cotton towel so simply hang it outside and it'll be ready for your next activity in no time. Our products are odour resistant so wash sparingly, this will also prolong the life of the towel.

Large Coolers: They have an 18 litre capacity (35cm x 23cm x 23cm) with clever configuration so you can fit multiple wine/champagne bottles lengthways, or 18 cans with food and ice on top. 

Mini Coolers: Have an 8 litre capacity (21cm x 18cm x 20cm) with clever configuration so you can fit a 6 pack, with food and ice on top, or multiple Tupperware containers and snacks, making them the perfect lunchbox.

Our cooler bags our designed to keep food and drinks chilled for up to 8 hours. For best results we suggest packing ice packs, keeping your cooler bag in the shade and zipped up at all times. If you chose to put ice blocks in your cooler, empty ice as it melts to avoid leakage and condensation.

Avoid putting loose sharp objects inside such as knives and forks, which may result in a puncture. Clean immediately after use and dry with a soft cloth and spot clean exterior with a soft wash cloth. Store empty with the zipper open and do not machine wash, tumble dry or bleach.

The outer material is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles with natural wool insulation to keep your food and drinks cold all day. On the inside we use a waterproof and eco-friendly PEVA lining.

It's both! Our innovative beach bag design effortlessly transforms from a tote to a backpack in seconds. For added convenience, simply clip the back straps into place when using it as a tote, keeping them neatly out of sight.

Towelling beach bags are made from soft, all-natural fibres with a natural cotton lining and no internal divider. The terry towelling exterior makes them especially soft and comfortable to carry, perfect for all-day wear and relaxed beach days.

Both styles convert from a tote to a backpack, feature multiple compartments for easy organisation, and are made using sustainably sourced materials.
