DIY Eco-Friendly Hand Sanitiser

Corona Virus panic has wiped the supermarket shelves clean of hand sanitiser and for those that want a more eco-friendly option we have a 3-ingredient DIY alternative. It's simple, natural, and not to mention preventing more little plastic bottles from ending up in landfill.

You Need These 3 Ingredients:

don't worry you don't need to fight anyone at the supermarket for them.

  • 1/2 cup of Aloe Vera Gel
  • 5-10 drops of tea tree oil
  • 5-10 drops of witch hazel

Mix together and add in a reusable container of your choice.

Breaking Down The Ingredients:

Aloe Vera has natural soothing and moisturising properties which can help prevent dry and cracking skin for the copious amounts of hand washing during the Covid-19 panic.

Tea tree oil possesses antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties. It is a potent oil meaning only add 5-10 drops in your mixture as it can irritate skin when used frequently.

Witch Hazel has naturally occurring compounds found in plants, seeds, bark, and which are known to have some antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Bonus Ingredient

To make it more anti-bacterial you can add 1 cup of isopropyl alcohol (no lower than 70%) which is a rubbing alcohol.

Washing Your Hands With Soap Is The Best Protection

There is no better alternative to protect yourself against COVID-19 than washing your hands in hot water with soap for at least 20 seconds. Please use the hand sanitiser as an added precaution.
